New York Fashion Week: September 6 – 13
As August comes to a close and the last days of summer dwindle away the city of New York eagerly prepares for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The Theater, Stage, Studio and Box at Lincoln Center will be home to the 80+runway shows of this year’s line-up of international designers and emerging artists. This week we’ll share some our favorite Spanish Designers and why we love them!

Spotlight: New Spanish Designer at this Year’s MBFW
New to the show this year is Spanish Designer, Eduardo Calvo, a native of Madrid graduating with a Fashion Design Major and Business Minor from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Eduardo’s quirky Spanish perspective helped him win the Lifetime’s Project Runway Scholarship Design Competition where he designed a couture candy garment for Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York City. His Supima Competition Capsule collection will debut (STUDIO @ 4pm) on September 6h. He hopes that the collection will “Embody elegance and femininity” without “Superfluous bells and whistles.”

Also presenting this year (STAGE, Sept 9 @ 3pm) is Custo Dalmau of Custo Barcelona. The Dalmau brothers, Custo and David, were inspired by their travels to the California coast where the surfer style of the south and psychedelic style of the north merged in their minds to form a new, vibrant and colorful line unlike anything found in Spain at the time.
These sketches, a sneak peak of the Spring 2013 line set to debut at this year’s MBFW, show Custo’s usual vibrant style and introduce sharp, playful and edgy forms.
